Mont-Ham became the first regional park of the Eastern Townships March 10, 2014.
The mountain has long been recognized as an icon of the Des Sources region identity. Located in Ham-Sud, Mont-Ham is visible to all municipalities in the region. Obtaining the status of a regional park, Mont-Ham officially becomes a public good. The board elected the MRC des Sources to strive to protect and enhance the tourism appeal into its territory.
Since March 2014, the MRC des Sources is the prime contractor and responsible for the territory of the regional park that includes the mountain, the Lac à la Truite and the Forêt de Ham. In regional park mode, the MRC des Sources plans to build and develop the site into five phases for an investment totaling $1,367,250.
Please note that the MRC des Sources set plans to create a regional park in 2007. This happy news was made possible through the collaboration of many partners, including the CLD des Sources, the Corporation de développement du Mont-Ham and the Ministère des Affaires Municipales et de l’Occupation du Territoire, the Ministère des Ressources naturelles, the Ministère du Développement durable et de l’environnement, de la Faune et des Parcs, and the Ministère du Tourisme.
